Types of Kits on How to Build Solar Panel

With the various how to build solar panel kits that you can buy, it is obvious that it is not so complicated to build solar panels especially if you are a capable handyman. If you possess the capabilities to do most of the maintenance in and around the house, then learning how to build solar panel systems will not discourage you. You do not need any special skills or tools and/or materials.

If you take care in the construction and assembling of a solar panel, you can expect to get about 20 or more years of service from it. Moreover, keeping in mind that almost no maintenance is needed and the sun’s energy is free, it must result in even more encouragement.

There are two basic types of solar panels. One type is for using the solar energy to generate heat such as for heating water for residential use and the other to use solar energy to generate electricity. During a sunny day, the sun delivers about 1000 watts of energy on every sunlit square meter of the earth’s surface. If we are able to catch that energy and divert it into solar panels that generates electricity, you will not need to buy electricity any more.

Now this is all well, but what do you do to get the maximum use of sun during the day? Also, keep in mind the fact that the sun moves and does not shine the whole day on one central point? Simple, you adjust the angle of the panels in order to acquire as much sun power as possible without having to move the panels around.

With that problem out of the way, and knowing how to build solar panel systems, then you surely will need to store it. You do not want electricity from the sun only on sunny days. The solution is to store the excess energy so that when the sun is shining you can store the electricity for those rainy days.

Do you want to change from conventional fossil fuel electricity to save money? And just how much will this all cost you? You can determine the cost yourself. Factors that have an influence on the number of panels you will need depend on:

  • The amount of electricity you consume. If you use a lot of electricity, installing a 100w panel will not get you far.
  • The amount of electricity you need. It would not be wise for an elderly couple to install a solar panel system that provides 100 kW of electricity per day and they use only 10 – 15 kW per day.
  • How far or how close you are to the equator. The closer you are, the more sun you receive, the more you can generate solar power with the panels.

If you want to learn how to build solar panel systems, then you can buy an online do it yourself kit, which can guide you all the way to building your own solar panel system.
